About this course

The recent Singhealth data hack that affected 1.5m individuals has brought renewed interested in the web pentesting field. Cyber security is a growing industry with many employment opportunities. This is especially so with a serious shortage of web pentesters. This course is a comprehensive training guide to get you to start working as a web pentester. You’ll gain a basic understanding of how web technology (HTML, HTTP, servers and front end) as well as how traditional and modern web applications work. You’ll learn about exploitation techniques, hacking tools, methodologies, and the whole process of security assessments. With this training, you’ll get everything you need to start working as a professional web pentester.

This is a hands-on course that will see you carrying out the attacks in your own penetration testing environment using the provided applications. The targets are real open-source software.

At the end of the course, you will be able to do web security assessments on your own as a real ethical hacker.

Most companies have a customer-facing website. However, failure to keep up with advances in web security has caused most websites to become vulnerable to modern hacker attacks. As a web penetration tester (pentester for short), your job is to identify vulnerabilities and potential security faults for your clients to patch up.

In this course, you’ll learn to:
- Find security vulnerabilities in web applications
- Exploit web applications using exploitation techniques such as Cross Site Scripting and SQL Injection
- Use hacking tools (attacking Wordpress sites)
- Conduct security assessments
